Drawing the Darker Side of Horse Gear

Description

I half debated about posting this, as, my nature tends to be more on the lighthearted side of life.

Then again, if you're doing this sort of thing to your horses... I likely won't loose any sleep over upsetting you.

Every once in a while, somebody sends me some picture of a TWH that would make anyone with a central nervous system cringe. It must be true what they say about Tennessee Walkers and their tolerant, calm nature. Those horses in the show rings have to put up with an awful lot.

I think doing this to a horse to make them move in a more certain way would be the equivalent of attaching soldiers to wooden boards when marching to keep their upper bodies straight. It's uncomfortable and even painful, plus it looks ridiculous and not in the least bit 'impressive'. If a soldier does walk 'straight and proper', then sure, it can look smart and professional. But how on earth would sticking all this stuff to them to make them walk that way look good at all? Unless it's a question of health, I think these horses should be allowed to walk in the way that is natural and safe for them to walk. Not a harmful way for purely aesthetic reasons.
